The Vermont Bee Keepers Association represents over 1000 beekeepers who raise bees for love and honey. We're as diverse as the 246 towns in Vermont, but unified in our fascination of and love for bees. Most of us are hobbyists, but there are some "sideliners" who try to make a bit of extra income from their 25-200 hives. Then there are the full-time commercial operations who work at this beekeeping 365 days a year.
In all, Vermont has approximately 1200 beekeepers, owning between 6-8,000 hives, which produce about 500,000 pounds of honey annually, depending upon the weather conditions.
Vermont Beekeeper's Association offers honey, advice, and a host of links to other beekeeping sites.
