flowers and plants that like shade (annuals & perennials). I've had nice vegetable gardens in the past but my current yard is very small with little summer sun.

I am a freelance writer living in Smithfield, Rhode Island (just outside of Providence). Besides Rhode Island, I've lived and gardened in North Carolina, California, and Colorado, and I'm still getting used to the soil and weather here in New England. I'm currently training to become a Certified Master Gardener with the U. of Rhode Island. I have a small shady woodland garden/yard and am hoping that my volunteer work with URI will provide me with the opportunity to work in sunny flower and vegetable gardens. I'm also taking the Master Gardener class to learn more about how to properly care and maintain flowers and plants, instead of uneducated guessing or worse, leaving them to their own devices.

I write for organizations in technology and education, and I'd like to write for gardening and environmental organizations as I learn more about gardening (www.carolinebrown.com).
